Convert the minutes as a share of an hour
Decimal hours use a fraction of 60 minutes. Thirty minutes is half an hour, so 7 hours 30 minutes becomes 7.5 hours. It does not become 7.30.
The reverse conversion separates whole hours from the remaining fraction. Use the conversion choice at the top to select the direction.

Example

Common questions
Is 1.5 hours the same as 1 hour 50 minutes?
No. The decimal 0.5 is half an hour, or 30 minutes. 1.5 hours means 1 hour 30 minutes.
