Set a countdown for one task
Use a countdown when you know how much time to allow. Enter minutes and seconds or pick a short preset. Pause holds the remaining time, while Reset prepares a fresh countdown.
The finish sound needs browser audio support. Test it first and keep the page open. A sleeping device or closed tab is not a reliable alarm.
How to use this tool
- Enter minutes and seconds.
- Check the Sound alerts setting and test it.
- Press Start. Use Pause or Reset to control the countdown.
Example
For a 7 minute 30 second task, enter 7 in Minutes and 30 in Seconds. The countdown begins at 00:07:30.
Common questions
Does the countdown keep track of time in a background tab?
It uses timestamps rather than counting screen updates. The display catches up when the browser runs again, but an alert can be delayed while the device sleeps.
