Check the difference between logged sleep and a target
Enter hours slept for each night. The calculator adds the entries, finds the average and compares the total with your target multiplied by the number of nights.
Longer nights offset shorter ones in this arithmetic total. The result is not a clinical measure of sleep debt or a plan for recovering lost sleep.
How to use this tool
- Enter your nightly target in hours.
- List the hours slept for each night on separate lines.
- Read total sleep, average sleep and the net difference.
Example
With an 8 hour target and entries of 7, 6 and 8 hours, the target total is 24 hours. The logged total is 21 hours, leaving an arithmetic shortfall of 3 hours.
Common questions
Does the result tell me how much sleep I need?
No. You supply the target. The tool compares entries with it and does not determine a personal sleep requirement.
